About
I'm a Graphic & Media Design student at UAL. I work mostly in print, typography and moving image, and over the past year in apps as well.
Most of that is print work. Risograph, letterpress, collage, and a lot of things that come out of a scanner still carrying the screen of whatever printed them first. I like it when you can see the system a piece is built on: a book ordered by nothing but distance, the same sentence set twice to see what legibility is actually worth, a teaser that pretends to be a case file.
The research usually ends up mattering more than the software. A fingerboard turned into a project about a subculture my dad handed down to me. A shelf of bird books turned into a book about backing away from something. I like making the final object, but the part I enjoy most is finding the rule that gets me there.
The newer work is apps. Cadence, JamTrack and Channel Toolkit are iPhone projects made in Swift and SwiftUI, using Xcode and Swift Playgrounds. They came out of the same habit as the print work: find the rule first, then build the thing that follows it.
Claude sits in that process the same way anything else on the tools list does. I decide what the thing is, what goes in it, how it looks and how it behaves, and I use it to think those decisions through and to get them built. It isn't there to do the work for me — it's there so an idea that would once have stopped at a mockup can end up running on a phone.
I'm in my first years at UAL and still building the work out. I'm open to commissions, collaborations and studio placements, especially anything to do with print, type, moving image or interface.
