Phases
Hands, clouds and paper planes drifting across an empty white field.
A short looping moving-image piece made out of cut-out photographic elements instead of drawn or rendered ones.
I kept the cast small and mismatched on purpose: a pointing hand, a hand making an OK sign, an open palm, a fist, all greyscale photo cut-outs, against soft blue clouds and folded paper planes. Everything floats on white with no ground and no horizon, so you can't tell how big anything is and it reads as collage rather than a scene.
The movement is slow and I left it all unsynced. Each element drifts on its own timing so the composition never settles, and the twelve seconds loop without an obvious join. The gestures do the work, instruction, approval, refusal, repeating and recombining without ever quite making a sentence.
A twelve-second silent loop, 1920 × 1080.
